Directv Residential Experience Local Content Supported Formats

DRE Directv Residential Experience Local Content Supported Formats
The LCI video is recommended to have the following characteristics.

Frame Size: 720×480, 1280×720, 1920×1080                                                                              Frame Rate: 29.97 , 30, 59.94 , 60 fps
Aspect Ratio : 16×9, 4×3 (16×9 is strongly recommended)
There are two formats supported by the LCI feature:
1.1 MPEG4 H.264 Video, AC3 Audio, MPEG2 Transport
For content stored in the LCI Server, the content format is MPEG4 H.264 Video, AC3 Audio, in MPEG2 Transport Packets. The broadcast stream format for stored content is a single RTP
stream, with multiple MPEG2 Transport Packets stuffed in each RTP packet. Other external
devices may also comply with these standards (e.g. video encoders).
Content Attribute Specification
Transport Packet MPEG-2 Transport
Video Encoding H.264, MPEG-4 Part 10
Audio Encoding AC3
Encryption None
Maximum channel bit rate 8 Mbps
1.2 MPEG4 H.264 Video, G.726/AAC Audio, NALU
For content from external devices such as network cameras, the video encoding must be MPEG4 H.264 Video. Audio is not supported in LCI external sources. The broadcast stream format from these external devices is an RTP stream for video and a separate RTP stream for audio. The H.264 video is encapsulated NALU packets as defined by ISO 14996-1 transmitted in RTP as defined by RFC 3984.
Content Attribute Specification
Video Encoding H.264, MPEG-4 Part 10
Video Transport H.264 over RTP as specified in RFC3984
Audio Encoding G.711 (Currently not supported by DRECTV Receivers)
Audio Transport G.711 over RTP as specified in RFC5391 (Currently not supported
by DRECTV Receivers)
Encryption None
Maximum channel bit-rate 8 Mbps
Note: Currently the DRECTV Receiver hardware does not support G.711 or G.726.Therefore no audio is support for external sources.
Note: Currently the DRE system will not support camera audio of NALU formatted streams nor will it support AAC audio.
