The poker-playing chairman of Dish Network is placing his biggest bet yet
Last weekend Charlie Ergen was holed up in the Times Square offices of Barclays, preparing an offer to buy Sprint Nextel for $25.5bn. When food was delivered for the sleep-deprived deal team, the chairman of Dish Network declined. He requested a hot dog from a street vendor; it was cheaper, he reasoned.
